Body Liberation Coaching

An introductory package

Body image got you down?

What if this new year you chose to respect and accept your body, instead of fighting it?A lot of people are experiencing increased body anxiety these days- the combination of lockdown, changing bodies, plus all the other things going on in the world is causing some extra feelings about bodies and food. If you're feeling that, you're not alone! I used to struggle with food and body stuff all the time, so I get it. It doesn't have to be a challenge forever.

Hey, I'm Talia.

I’m a certified professional coach. I want to live in a world where all bodies are accepted and loved.

I haven’t always been so into my body. I fluctuated throughout my life between being somewhat neutral to actively hating and trying to control the size of my body through food and exercise.

Then one day, I realized I had a choice: I could continue to try to control my body forever, or I could finally let go.

Choosing body acceptance felt like freedom: finally being aligned with who I really am. That’s why I now work to share the tools for body liberation. I believe it is our birthright to get to love and be in relationship with our bodies. If that sounds appealing to you, I hope you’ll join me.

My experience:

  • 7+ years coaching

  • Coach certification through Leadership that Works and the International Coach Federation

  • 20+ years as a social change activist

  • 38 years having a body

What's possible...

What if it wasn't an endless struggle of scowling in the mirror, trying to eat "healthy," comparing yourself to others and self-judging? What if you could wake up in the morning, wink at your reflection and then go on to just live your life? As a body image coach, that's the work I do; provide the support and practical tools you need to do the bold work of accepting your body. Yes it is possible.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

I was growing more and more insecure about my ability to take care of my health and I was in full blown perfectionism diet mode. Fortunately, I reached out to Talia. Talia is so open and non-judgmental. She is a gentle teacher who believes me.  One of the biggest moments I experienced is when I realized that I was completely ignoring my mouth when it came to deciding, intuitively, what I wanted to eat. Talia helped me realize that through all the years of dieting and being too poor to afford food I wanted, I had cut my mouth out of the equation. I am taking back my mouth. I am adding pleasure to my life. I am adding full connection to my body.

FULL TRANSPARENCY: AN INTRODUCTION IS EXACTLY THAT

We won't solve all body image issues in 4 sessions. Yes, it is possible to have a life where food and body stuff doesn't tug at you all day, where you get to live your full life, less encumbered with image struggles. Most private clients work with me for anywhere between 6 months and 2 years to get there. That may seem like a while, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to how long you've been dealing with this.

You get to decide...

My hope is that this package will support your ongoing body journey, and whether you continue it with me or on your own is entirely up to you. After four sessions you can choose to continue coaching with me or I can provide resources for ongoing self-study. You will not be pressured to continue coaching.

Please note that after the package my current regular coaching rate is a sliding scale of $150-$250/session. Rates may increase in 2023.

FAQs

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This is for anyone with a body. My clients identify in a range of ways including: women, men, and nonbinary, in their 20s-70s, working, middle and owning class, abled and disabled, white, Black, Asian, Latinx, and mixed-heritage, thin, fat, mid-size, and "I don't know what size I am."

WHAT IF I'M NOT SURE?

I want this to be a good experience for you! If you're not sure if this is the right time or if we'll be a good fit, schedule a free 20 minute intro call and I'll be happy to help you think it through or make referrals to other providers.

HOW OFTEN DO SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?

I generally recommend twice a month; it's a good amount of time to integrate learnings between sessions. Some people opt for once a week, and others for once a month, based on their needs and schedules.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COACHING AND THERAPY?

The short answer is that while therapy is typically focused on the past and present, coaching generally focuses on the present and desired future. I refer out to therapists if a client wants to work on something more suited for therapy.

If you’re struggling with body image in these transitional times, it's not your fault. We’ve been given very few tools for dealing with it. Fortunately, I’ve spent the past 5+ years collecting tools and I want to share them with you.
