My clients and I often end up talking about nuance. Can anyone be 100% healthy or 100% unhealthy? Does someone have to love their body all the time to be body positive? Can you really know if there's a right or wrong choice here?
Dieting always felt reassuring because of the way it was black and white. Good food/bad food. Calories in/calories out.
Body liberation has been beautiful because of the nuance.
That's the approach I'm leaning into when it comes to the election.
Do I love Kamala Harris? No. Do I think she's going to do great things for all bodies? No. Do I think she'll be better than Trump. Absolutely.
As Aurora Levins Morales says, “We on the Left are not choosing a leader. We’re choosing an opponent.”
It's because I believe that it will be easier to organize for body liberation under Democratic power that I made this completely absurd Monster Mash video for Seed the Vote with my friend Eli Conley (and others!).
If you have any ability to get to a swing state, or to make phone calls, or to donate, Seed the Vote will hook you up. I really love this organization, and it's not too late to get involved.
Let's do this,
Talia
