Embodiment coaching: it’s like couples therapy for you and your body

Well….except not.

Because you’re not a couple

You’re a single

Well, not really a single

You’re a single skin suit that contains multitudes

The trillions of cells

Billions of neurons

Thousands veins

Hundreds of bones and joints

The interstitium

All the memories and emotions

All your parts

Your busy mind full of pathways

Your heart, so diligently working

And it’s not therapy it’s coaching

And the distinction is that coaching is primarily focused on the present and future, not childhood trauma

Which is not to say, you can’t tell me your history, your body story, your important moments– you can, but we won't stay there

We come back to the now, to the so what of it all, to the future, to the where are we going

But nevertheless embodiment coaching is like couples therapy for you and your body because I sometimes ask you to share and I sometimes ask your body to share, and I ask both of you to listen

A facilitated dialogue

Perhaps the dialogue your body has been asking for, waiting for, poking at you everyday in the mirror for: turn towards me and let's talk! Please listen to me cry, please witness me stomp! I promise I’ll listen in return. Or whatever your version is

Perhaps the space you both have been waiting for, looking to see when it’s finally safe enough
